The Exchange - 2 Boys 1 Can - Induction Task

Our short film induction task was to create a video based on a type of exchange between a few people. Our group consisted of 4 people but only two were in the actual video. The video basis was trying to do an exchange in Skills and we decided to use a can of fizzy drink; only because food and drink is banned in Skills; so therefore we thought the idea of sneaking a drink into skills was a fun idea. There is a few things that we would of changed if we had the chance to film it again. One of the continuity errors we made was at 1:05 seconds, Where Brandon came into skills sweating but the shot before he was not running or fast pace walking; also afterwards where Brandon and Joel are actually exchanging the can, Brandon no longer has any sweat on his face, which could be seen as a continuity error. I think we could of made the film longer by maybe 30 seconds or so, to tell the story better. Another thing to criticize would be that during the time period of 18 - 36 seconds, we didn't add any backing sound, however before and after this time frame we added music to soften and then intensify the video. When there was no backing sound added, we used the original audio. The up close and focused shots were our stronger areas, they were clear and showed distinctively what we were focusing on. We used the heartbeat backing sound to again, intensify the scene and show simply how Joel and Brandon were feeling in the moment of opening the can. Working a camera and experimenting on different shot angles was one of the parts I enjoyed doing most.
